GetNear ("GetNear", "we", "our", or "us") is a local discovery and social utility application that helps users connect with nearby people, professionals, businesses, posts, and emergency/SOS-related features.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use the GetNear mobile application, website, and related services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information only to provide, secure, improve, and operate GetNear.
A. Account and Profile Information
When you create or use an account, we may collect:
- Phone number for OTP-based login and verification
- Name, title, gender, date of birth or age-related information
- Optional email address
- Profile photo
- Skill, profession, business type, short introduction, and profile details
- GetNear Profile ID
- Verification status, such as whether your profile is verified
B. Location Information
GetNear is a nearby discovery app, so location is important for core features. With your permission, we may collect or process:
- Current device location
- Approximate distance between users or posts
- Location used for nearby search, availability, posts, reach, and SOS-related features
- Location-related metadata required to show relevant nearby results
Your exact live location is not intended to be publicly shown to other users. GetNear may show distance or nearby availability depending on your settings and permissions.
If Availability is turned OFF, your live nearby visibility may be limited or hidden.
C. Posts, Media, and User Content
When you use GetNear, you may create or interact with content, including:
- Posts
- Images and videos uploaded by you
- Comments and replies
- Likes, dislikes, reports, shares, and other interactions
- Tags, post visibility, post reach, and timestamps
Content you post may be visible to other users depending on the visibility or reach selected by you.
D. Chat and Communication Data
If you use messaging or communication features, we may collect:
- Chat messages
- Message timestamps
- Delivery/read status
- Conversation metadata
- Call-related metadata, such as call attempt time and status
We do not publicly display private chat content. However, chat data may be stored to provide messaging, safety, moderation, and abuse-prevention features.

If ID verification, KYC, DigiLocker, Aadhaar-based verification, or similar verification features are enabled, we may process verification-related information such as:

- Name or identity confirmation result

We try to collect only the minimum information required for verification and safety. Sensitive ID details are not intended to be publicly visible.
F. Device, App, and Security Information

- Firebase Cloud Messaging token for notifications

4. Location Privacy
GetNear uses location to provide nearby discovery and distance-based features.
You control location permission through your device settings. If you deny or turn off location permission, some features may not work properly, including nearby search, availability, distance, post reach, and SOS-related features.
GetNear is designed to show nearby relevance and distance, not to expose your exact live location publicly.
5. User-Generated Content
Any post, profile information, comment, image, video, or other content you publish may be visible to other users according to the feature and visibility selected by you.
Please do not share sensitive personal information, private documents, financial details, passwords, or other confidential information in posts, comments, profile fields, or chats.
We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate our safety rules, legal requirements, or community standards.
6. Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as necessary to provide GetNear, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our policies.
Some posts may expire automatically based on the post duration or visibility rules. However, logs, backups, reports, and safety records may be retained for a limited period where necessary.
If you request account deletion, your account may enter a grace period before permanent deletion. After the grace period, we will delete or anonymize personal data where reasonably possible, except information we are required or allowed to keep for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or safety reasons.
7. Your Controls and Choices
You may be able to:
- Edit your profile information
- Turn Availability ON or OFF
- Control location permission from device settings
- Delete your posts or comments where supported
- Block or report users
- Log out of your account
- Request account deletion
- Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information
Some requests may require identity verification before we can process them.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including authentication, database rules, secure storage, access controls, and anti-abuse checks.
However, no app, website, server, or internet transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device and account safe.
9. Children and Minors
GetNear is intended for users who are legally allowed to use social and location-based services. If a user is under 18, they should use GetNear only with appropriate parent, guardian, or institution-approved permission where required.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a way that violates applicable law. If you believe a minor has provided personal data without proper permission, please contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

If you use a beta, closed testing, or early access version of GetNear, you understand that the app may contain bugs, incomplete features, or performance issues.
