Verified accounts carry a "Verified by ID Proof" badge, so you can see who has confirmed their identity before you connect, message or call. Aadhaar verification through DigiLocker is planned: that integration is not granted to small apps quickly, so it will arrive as GetNear grows rather than on day one.

Tapping SOS in GetNear broadcasts an alert to your trusted contacts and to nearby GetNear users, with the type of help needed — such as a blood donor, accident support, or being stranded.

Important: GetNear is not an emergency service and cannot guarantee that anyone will see or respond to an alert. It supplements official services, it does not replace them. In a genuine emergency in India, always call 112 first.

It is a social network for your local area: it makes nearby people, posts and businesses visible to each other so they can talk directly. Whatever happens after that — a conversation, a favour, a job, a visit to a shop — happens between the two of you, off the platform.

Everyday local things: a request for help, a recommendation, an urgent need such as a blood donor, a lost item, a room or shop to let, spare tickets, a study group, a civic update, or news from a local shop. Posts are meant for the people around you right now, so they are about today rather than a permanent timeline.

You can message someone from their profile, and once both of you are verified you can also place a voice or video call. Every profile carries block and report controls, and you can switch yourself to not available at any time, which removes you from nearby discovery while you keep browsing.
