About GetNear

A social network for the 7 km you are actually standing in.

Most social networks show you people you already know, wherever they happen to be. GetNear does the opposite: it shows you what is happening around you, right now, within 7 km — and that circle moves with you.

What GetNear is

Real-time hyperlocal, not another feed

GetNear is a real-time hyperlocal social network for India. The feed is selected by where you physically are, not by who you follow. Walk somewhere else and the feed changes, because the 7 km circle is recalculated as you move.

That single idea is the whole product. Everything else follows from it.

Why nearby and real-time matter together

Local information has a short shelf life. A lost dog two streets away matters this afternoon and not next week. A blood request matters in the next few hours. A room to rent, a plumber free today, a shop that just opened — all of it is useful because it is close and current. Remove either half and it stops being useful.

Distance alone is a directory. Recency alone is a timeline. GetNear is the overlap.

What you get

Three things, close to you

Nearby people, live local posts, and the local businesses around you.

Nearby people

Discover people around you, searchable by skill or profession, with availability you can see before you reach out.

Real-time local posts

A feed of what is actually happening nearby now — not a national timeline with your town mentioned somewhere in it.

Local businesses

The shops, services and professionals in your circle, with their own presence rather than a listing someone else wrote.

Urgent local help

Reach people who are physically close when minutes matter. GetNear supplements official emergency services — in an emergency in India, call 112.

The ecosystem

Individual and Business, in one circle

A neighbourhood is not only people, and it is not only shops. GetNear carries both in the same 7 km circle, as two sides of one local network.

Individuals post, ask, offer help, and are discoverable by what they can do. Businesses have their own presence in the same circle — visible to the people who are genuinely close enough to walk in.

Neither side is a listing in someone else's catalogue. Both are participants in the same local conversation.

Being precise

What GetNear is not

This matters enough to say plainly, because hyperlocal apps are often assumed to be marketplaces.

  • Not a booking platform. GetNear does not take bookings or appointments on anyone's behalf.
  • Not a delivery service. Nothing is dispatched, tracked or fulfilled.
  • Not an order-processing marketplace. No carts, no checkout, no transactions between users.
  • No commission. GetNear does not take a cut of anything, because nothing passes through it.

People find each other and then deal with each other directly. GetNear's job ends at the introduction.

Pricing, stated plainly

The 7 km local circle is free for everyone. Reach beyond 7 km is a paid option. That is the whole of it today.

Where we are

In development

GetNear has not launched. It is not yet on the App Store or Google Play, and this site describes the product as it is being built rather than a shipped app. We would rather say that than imply otherwise.
